All,
Another great year, some super hot weather, lots of great athletics. The grass might be yellow, but the medals were golden! Well done athletes who joined us at the end of term for our competition event.

All,
Well the 2019-2020 academic year didn’t exactly turn out as expected, but we still managed to keep active and get some great athletics and running training done. I’d like to thank every coach, coaching assistant and parent for making this happen. Our junior athletes are a credit to us.
Information for 2020-2021:
I look forward to another great year of athletics training and seeing our keen athletes progress and enjoy sport.
Kind Regards,
Caroline & the DRC Juniors Coaches & Committee
Following government advice regarding the delay phase control measures for the Coronavirus (COVID-19) outbreak Dursley Running Club is cancelling all organised club activities. This includes all adult running, triathlon and junior sessions. This is with immediate effect and until further notice.
We will continue to monitor the situation, particularly with respect to our planned club races and publish further information when available.

All ability club members welcome, start and finish from the rugby club, hot food to finish. 12, 6 and 3 mile options, 9am start. Please complete registration form to let us know you’re coming and order food: Another Dozen Form
Please note that the heavy rain will mean that we are unable to train on the Rugby Club field. There was no take up for trail running in the woods on this occasion so we have cancelled this session.

Some fun activities for the juniors to try and an opportunity to question the coaches. Also hear what our development plans consist of and how we plan to spend our funds. Cake and coffee available too.
We will also be more than happy to talk about how you could help us run and develop the Junior Section.
Chatty running for our yr7+ juniors on Wednesday, jumping for our indoor athletes, and more of the Dozen route for the Muddy Runners on Saturday. What a great week, really good efforts from our Juniors.
We also held a stand at the Kingshill House Clubs and Societies Fair which was a great opportunity for us to share our successes with the community and possibly even encourage some new recruits. Last week I said there were two more indoor athletics sessions left, but I miscounted… now there are two left! One circuits based session and one relay session.
The next couple of Muddy Running sessions will be orienteering based; next one at the rugby club then our really fun Easter Egg Hunt on Stinchcomb Golf Course (6th April). We will then break for Easter – we will be busy line painting and planning our next season of programmes.
400m reps for our Wednesday runners. Circuits for our Friday athletes and some definitely muddy and quite windy running for our Saturday runners. Well done all.
A few have asked when our Summer Athletics programme will start. Hopefully we will start straight after the Easter holidays, but we are just waiting for the Rugby Club to confirm our field booking before we send out the registration form.
Just two more Indoor Athletics sessions to go and hopefully soon we will be able to organise some orienteering for our Saturday runners. Thank you to everyone who signed up for the whitening rota.
As it was half term this week most of our programmes were taking a well earned break. However, the Muddy Running session did run on Saturday and we had a fabulous time running on the golf course on a gloriously sunny morning. Just a perfect day for running in the countryside.
The U21 Winter Running Programme was due to finish last week, so we would love to hear feedback. The Wednesday sessions will move into athletics after Easter; so is there still a desire to continue with a road running session?
We will also need to set up a white-lining rota again; this worked really well last year as it means everyone only needs to take one turn over the season. So please let me know if you would be able to do this.
Weather permitting next Saturday will be on Stinchcombe Hill again, so meet in the walker’s car park at 9.30am. We run at a gentle pace and stop fairly regularly so if any parents would like to join us you are more than welcome.
Another exciting week for the DRC Juniors. Wednesday included an ‘Out and Back’ session where our athletes had to maintain the same or faster pacing on the ‘back’ as they had on the ‘out’. Thursday included some of the best all round great training that runners can do; hill reps.
Friday’s indoor athletics was extra exciting as we had our first chance to try out our brand new Reverse Boards. These boards allow our athletes to practice their maximum velocity running (sprints) and they work really well for Relay Races which is what we did. Even the coaches and some of the parents joined in for an exciting final.
Sunday saw some great performances from our DRC Juniors in the final AAA Cross Country race at Pitville Park. Well done!
U11 Girls: Jessica Foran (10:57, 34th), Verity Hoskin (11:58, 44th)
U13 Girls: Lucy Holdsworth (11:21, 7th), Emma Foran (12:52, 16th)
U15 Boys: Freddie Turner (23:46, 19th)
It is half term next week and so there are no Weds/Thur/Fri sessions but we are hoping to do a Muddy Running trail run on Saturday. Parents welcome to join us check out the calendars for more details.
